CREED Cover Reveal!!!

I had the privilege of beta reading this Young Adult horror, CREED, and,
believe me, you don't want to miss this killer read.
The amazing cover captures the crazy-creepy novel.
Read the blurb then scroll down to view the cover!

CREED – November, 2014 from Flux
Three days.
Three of us went in.
Three of us came out.
None of us even a shadow of who we once were.

About the Authors:

Trisha Leaver resides on Cape Cod with her husband, three children and one rather excitable black lab. She spent most of her childhood living inside her own mind, creating characters and stories that only a child's imagination could dream up. She now spends her days breathing life into those characters, writing realistic fiction for young adults. Today, Trisha is a free-lance editor and a proud member of the SCBWI, YA Scream Queens, The Horror Writers Association, TheBookYards, and OneFourKidLit, a community of authors with debuts upcoming in 2014. More information about her solo and co-authored projects can be found at the links below.

Lindsay Currie lives in Chicago, Illinois with one incredibly patient hubby, three amazing kids and one adorable, but irreverent Bullmastiff named Sam. She graduated from Knox College in the heart of the Midwest and has been writing for as long as she can remember. She is a freelance editor for young adult, new adult and middle grade fiction, and is a proud member of SCBWI, The American Horror Writers Association, The YA Scream Queens and OneFourKidLit, a community of authors with debuts upcoming in 2014.
Dee Langley is seventeen and mere months away from total freedom and a life where state social workers, counselors, and foster parents don’t dictate her every move. She has spent years trying to eke out a normal existence, hiding from her past and walking the tenuous line between denial and self-preservation. A weekend away with her boyfriend, Luke, and his brother, Mike, seems like the perfect opportunity to forget and start over. Little does Dee know that she's just trading one hell for another.

When an unexpected storm and a lack of gas force their car off the road, Dee, Luke, and Mike find themselves with no other choice but to wander into the nearby town of Purity Springs for help. But it’s not good Samaritans they find, but rather complete and utter silence, every store and every house abandoned. Forced to seek shelter in one of the deserted homes, they uncover a disturbing book with explicit instructions on how to correctly rear a child, complete with a hand written record of its use. It’s not until the next morning, however, that they discover the alarming truth – the town isn’t abandoned; it is populated by a deadly cult, and the leader, Elijah Hawkins, has plans for the three of them. The group’s only hope for survival lies in the hands of Elijah’s son, Joseph. But is Joseph really their ticket to freedom or is his game just as deadly as his father’s?

SO EERIE-AWESOME!

AWESOME NEWS!!

"The" Post
Yes, that post.

I'm sorry I've been rather quite on my personal blog. And on Facebook. And on Twitter. I've been writing. A lot. As in an entire book then major revisions. But I'm here now to break my silence and shout from the rooftops some exciting news...

I have a book deal with Entangled Teen!!!!
ANOMALY, the first of three books in the
Schrodinger's Consortium Series, a young adult
Science Fiction trilogy based on quantum physics,
will hit shelves in November IN PRINT, with Liz Pelletier, publisher/editor of Entangled Publishing, as my editor!!

Here's the blurb:
The world is not what it seems. What the general population thinks is reality, is an illusion. The forefathers of quantum physics, Shrodinger & Heisenberg, were on to something. A small percentage of people can create reality simply through the act of observation.

Josie Harper doesn't believe it at first either. But then weird things happen - events she can't explain or ignore.

When Reid Wentworth rides into town with his sexy smile and smart-ass attitude, talking of Anomalies and Pushing, Josie wants to push him right out of her life. But Reid's training stints show Josie how right he is - and how much she needs him...in so many ways.

And now, their secret race in on the verge of civil war. Josie has to make some tough choices. Some of them could cost her life, some could cost all of humanity’s.

***
SO? Whatcha think? It can be summed up as The Matrix meets Divergent in contemporary high school. It combines intrigue, action, and romance.

I owe an enormous THANK YOU to Nicole Resciniti, my agent, and Liz Pelletier, my editor/publisher, for giving me, a debut author, the opportunity to make my dreams a reality.

For all those writers out there with the hope of being published one day...don't give up. It can happen. I'm proof. And it might not happen when you think, or how. But that's okay. What really matters is not giving up on a passion or a dream. Work hard and go after it.

And now, in celebration of my news, Damon says cheers!
(If you read his lips he's telling me I'm pretty.)

Luckily for him, no one can stay mad at Bren and his wild charm for long. And when some frightening ghosts launch a hostile paranormal takeover, Bren will team up with Celia Wird to take down the evil ghouls before they hurt someone they both love…

YA Author Jessa Russo

The EVADE Blog Tour!

EVADE, book two in the EVER Trilogy

In this thrilling sequel, Ever Van Ruysdael's race to beat the odds—and the clock—begins with the introduction of an integral part of her past. As secrets are revealed, and truths uncovered, she learns her imminent death is the least of her problems: Ariadne did more than just put an expiration date on her life; she marked Ever's soul by upping its value for greedy collectors looking to buy their freedom.

Condemned by the countdown on her life, and hunted by hired Seekers, Ever’s journey leads her to question everything she’s known and everyone she’s trusted, while growing closer to the one person from her past she was determined to avoid—and the one guy she never could—Toby James.

With her ex-boyfriend by her side, and the countdown clock rapidly ticking away, Ever tries thwarting fate’s plans. But as her nineteenth birthday approaches, and desperate Seekers follow her every move, she may be too late.

A marked soul is hard to come by … and even harder to escape.

Welcome to my agency-mate YA author Jessa Russo,
who is guest posting today on my blog!

“Write now, Edit Later”
by Jessa Russo

I’ve completed a total of four books since I began writing in 2009—two young adult paranormal romances (EVER and EVADE), one upper young adult fantasy fairytale redux (DIVIDE), and most recently, an edgy new adult contemporary romance (ARK OF DREAMS). I’d like to say I have this amazing plot process or some ritual or habit I can pass along to others, some wisdom to impart, but I’m afraid I don’t.

What I have learned is this very key bit of information that I know you’ve seen or heard before, but if you’re like me, you disregarded it.

Write now, edit later.

Simple, right?

But wow, when I wrote EVER, and the first half of the manuscript I began before I wrote EVER, I would edit as I went along. Like, re-reading each paragraph a million times, then each chapter, then revising a million times, then writing, then reading all I’d written again, then more revising, then I’d print out what I had and read it again, marking up the pages as I went . . . and so on and so forth until my voice had been lost (or maybe I just hadn’t found it yet, I’m still not sure).

When I sat down to write DIVIDE last November (for NaNoWriMo 2012) I realized almost immediately that I didn’t have time for all that nonsense. I had to write, write, write, and pick up where I left off every time I returned to the manuscript. Because, regardless of the few magical people who find Nano easy peasy (I’m friends with some of these people, and I love/hate them—lol), I’m not someone who can write 50k in a month with ease. It takes a lot of focus and ridiculously strict time management.

Which, if you know me very well at all, you know I lack both, but especially the latter. *grin*

So I sat down last November 1st and began DIVIDE. And then, on November 2nd, I sat down again and didn’t read what I’d written the day before, but just began writing again. This continued throughout the entire month; I wrote and I wrote and I wrote, and I hoped for the best. Although I didn’t technically “win” NaNoWriMo, I ended November with over 40K words in DIVIDE—a manuscript I adored and couldn’t believe I’d had a story flow from me with such strength, and almost . . . ease.

I’d gotten out of my own way.

That manuscript went on to get me an agent, so NaNoWriMo “win” or not, I feel like writing DIVIDE without stopping to edit, and focusing instead on letting the words flow without hindering them, or standing between myself and the story, was the winningest thing I’ve done in my career thus far.

So, I must stress that the saying is right. Whether you plot or pants (I’m a true blue panster with no intention of ever converting), just let the words flow.

Write now, edit later.

Or, as I like to say (it’s tattooed on my forearm): just write.

Saying Nate Grimm has a dark past is an understatement. Fortunately, no one’s bothered to look too closely at the Fairytale Management Authority’s lead detective and part-time Reaper. And that’s the way Nate wants to keep it. For after centuries of torment and loneliness, he’s finally found happiness with the hot and hard-charging love of his life, Tess “Red” Little.

Now, Tess will pay the price for Nate’s transgressions unless Nate severs his ties to the transplanted Tales—and Tess—forever. His enemy has the advantage in speed, malice and brutality. A Cursed Embrace Interview

A CURSED EMBRACE BLOG TOUR:
INTERVIEW WITH (adult) URBAN FANTASY
AUTHOR CECY ROBSON
+
GIVEAWAY!

In celebration of the soon-to-be-released
A CURSED EMBRACE,
the second full length novel in THE WEIRD GIRLS Series,
I'm interviewing the uber-talented author
(and my agency-mate) Cecy Robson!

*Giveaway info at bottom of post*

1.    What is the title of your novel, who is the publisher, and when is the set release date? Can you give us a short blurb?

My Weird Girls urban fantasy romance novels and novellas are published with Penguin’s Signet Eclipse.  My second novel in the series, A CURSED EMBRACE, releases July 2, 2013. The blurb is below:

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twentysomething girls—with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird.…

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

2.     Do you have other novels out or is this your first?

The prequel novella, THE WEIRD GIRLS, and my first novel, SEALED WITH A CURSE, are currently available. I also have my novella, A CURSED MOON, releasing in December. This novella is told through Bren’s (my blue-collar werewolf) perspective. Do you have other novels under contract after this one? CURSED BY DESTINY is the third novel I have contracted with Penguin and it releases January 2014. And while this novel fulfills my current contract, I suspect there are more Weird Girls novels to come. ;D Do you write in other genres or categories?  My OLD ERTH series (a high fantasy romance) is currently out on submission.  I’m also starting another high fantasy epic series. Lately, I’ve also toyed with writing a chick lit, loosely base on my Latin upbringing.

3.     If you had to cast your main characters to star in the movie adaptation of your novel, who would you choose?

I’d love to have Emmy Rossum play Celia, Emmanuelle Chriqui for Taran, Lily Collins as Shayna, and Dianna Agron would make a great Emme.  I’d also love to see Alex Pettyfer portray Aric, and Taylor Kitsch would make a fantastic Misha.

4.     Do you have a favorite character from your novel(s), who, why? What traits of your own do you see in your characters?

I have a soft spot for all my characters―even the “bad” guys.  I’ll have to say, though, Celia is likely my favorite . . . probably because I’ve tortured her the most.  As far as traits?  I think my main characters carry portions―if not extreme qualities―of my quirky, upbeat, nerdish, and obnoxious personality.

5.     Can you give us your favorite thing about writing?

What I love most about writing is sharing my stories and having readers embrace and respond so well to my work. How about your least favorite? Sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day to wrangle in my over-active imagination and write everything I’d like to.

6.     When you’re reading for fun, what do you read?

I mostly read books within my genre―anything dealing with magic and the possibility of it existing in our reality. I also enjoy books with humor. There’s not enough laughter in the world.

How about a game of word association?
I’d love to. Bring it!

I say SUPER NATURAL, you say… Yes, please!
I say MAGIC, you say… Believe.
I say WEREWOLF, you say…hot!
I say HOTTIE, you say… Werewolf.
I say ROMANCE, you say…only with a touch magic, and lots of action.
I say KICK-ASS, you say…heroines!

Thank you so much!

Thank YOU, Tonya!

This is what A CURSED EMBRACE is all about and
where you can buy/order it!

A CURSED EMBRACE

or the the first full-length novel, SEALED WITH A CURSE, in THE WEIRD GIRL SERIES,
read on to learn more about these un-put-downable books!

THE WEIRD GIRLS

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, a little weird…
The Wird sisters are different from every race on earth—human and supernatural. When human society is no longer an option for them, they move in among the resident vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region. Could this be the true home they’ve longed for? Um, not quite. After the sisters accidentally strip a witch of her powers in a bar brawl, they soon realize the mistake will cost them. Because to take on a witch means to take on her coven. And losing the battle isn’t an option.

Includes a preview of the first full-length novel in the Weird Girls series, Sealed with a Curse—as well as introductions to the Weird World, and a letter from the author.

SEALED WITH A CURSE

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren't aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders: are the vampires of Tahoe cursed with a plague?

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha's family to keep the region safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and oh yeah, not lose her heart to the wrong guy—or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, it’s coming for her and her sisters. This Wird girl has never had it so tough.
